The White House hopes that the de-escalation between the Islamic Republic of Iran (IRI) and Israel will contribute to the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine. This was announced on Wednesday, June 25, by special envoy of the President of the United States Stephen Witkoff.

"I think the optimism that has arisen as a result of what is happening here may well spread to Russia and Ukraine. <...> We hope that people will look at what happened in Iran and say, 'We also want to be part of the peace process,'" he said in an interview with CNBC.

Witkoff added that Washington is counting on "good developments" in resolving the Ukrainian conflict in connection with the situation in the Middle East.

Earlier in the day, US President Donald Trump said he had no doubt about Russian President Vladimir Putin's desire to achieve a settlement of the Ukrainian conflict. He added that the Russian leader had recently offered mediation assistance in resolving the conflict in the Middle East.
