US President Donald Trump held a telephone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in which he announced that the United States would no longer provide military assistance to Israel in the conflict with Iran. This was reported on Tuesday, June 24, by The Washington Post (WP), citing a source from the White House.

"Our American military did what we needed to do," a newspaper source quoted Trump as saying.

The Israeli prime minister was not pleased with these words, the source added. But he realized that the president wanted to see a turn towards diplomacy, and agreed to a cease-fire.

"I would not say that the prime Minister enthusiastically agreed, but he understood that President Trump would no longer take military part in this conflict," the source said.

Earlier in the day, President Trump announced the entry into force of an agreement related to a complete cease-fire between Israel and Iran. Iran later confirmed the truce. The President of the Islamic Republic, Masoud Peseshkian, assured that the Iranian side would not abandon the cease-fire if Israel did not violate its terms.
