CNN has learned about minor damage to components of Iran's nuclear program
The US strikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities did not significantly damage the main components of Iran's nuclear program and only suspended work on it for several months, contrary to the statements of the American government. This was reported on Tuesday, June 24, by CNN, citing sources and a preliminary assessment by the United States Department of Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA).
"The US military strikes on Iran's three nuclear facilities over the weekend did not destroy the main components of the country's nuclear program and probably only pushed it back for months," the publication says.
They clarified that the analysis of the damage caused to Iran's nuclear facilities continues. In this regard, the assessment may change. At the same time, it is noted that the initial results contradict the statements of US President Donald Trump about the "complete destruction" of Iran's nuclear infrastructure for uranium enrichment.
The interlocutors of the publication stressed that the uranium reserves on Iranian territory had not been destroyed, and the centrifuges were almost "undamaged." One of the sources concluded that this had suspended work on Iran's nuclear program for no more than a few months.
Earlier, on June 21, the American leader announced that the US attack was aimed at three Iranian nuclear facilities in Fordo, Natanz and Isfahan. According to Trump, the operation was successful.
On June 24, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the attacks on Iran's nuclear facilities violated the Charter of the United Nations (UN) and resolutions of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
