The IDF announced the elimination of key Iranian nuclear scientists
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has eliminated nine leading scientists and experts on Iran's nuclear program in airstrikes. This was announced on June 14 by the army press service on the website.
"The strike was made possible thanks to accurate data collected by the intelligence agency. <...> All the eliminated scientists and experts were centers of knowledge in the Iranian nuclear project and had decades of combined experience in developing nuclear weapons," the IDF said.
Thus, specialists in the field of nuclear engineering, mechanics, and physics were among those eliminated, the report says.
Earlier in the day, it was reported that two Deputy Chiefs of the General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces (AF) were killed as a result of Israeli strikes.
Also on June 14, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported a night attack on dozens of targets in the Tehran area, including the air defense infrastructure. The commander of the Israeli Air Force, Major General Tomer Bar, clarified that the strikes had operational and national significance.
On June 13, Israel launched a preemptive strike against Iran and declared a state of emergency. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called the task of the military operation attacks on the Iranian nuclear infrastructure.
On the same day, Russian President Vladimir Putin held telephone conversations with his Iranian counterpart Masoud Peseshkian and Netanyahu. He stressed that the Russian side condemns Israel's actions and will contribute to de-escalating the conflict between the states.
