Deputies of the State Duma of Russia have adopted in the first reading a bill on the protection of religious symbols of the main traditional faiths. This was reported on the website of the lower house of Parliament on June 10.

They noted that amendments are proposed to the federal law "On Freedom of Conscience and Religious Associations." The bill provides for a ban on the use of images and other reproductions of religious buildings and other objects without their religious symbols.

"The initiative was a natural reaction of deputies to numerous appeals from citizens about retouching and "mashing" religious symbols," said Vyacheslav Volodin, Chairman of the State Duma.

According to him, the bill will ensure that citizens respect religious symbols, as well as protect the feelings of believers.

On March 3, the State Duma called for the introduction of weekends in honor of Easter and Trinity. MP Dmitry Gusev pointed out that Orthodoxy in the Russian Federation is much more important than just religion, and Christmas, for example, is already a day off at the federal level.

In addition, other religious holidays are celebrated in a number of regions, such as Eid al-Adha and Eid al-Adha, which are also declared days off.
