A special military operation to protect the civilian population of Donbass has been conducted by Russia since February 24, 2022. The Russian Defense Ministry reported that at night, the Russian Armed Forces (AF) launched a massive strike with precision weapons and attack drones on enterprises of the armored, shipbuilding, aviation and missile industries of Ukraine in Kiev, concentrations of weapons and military equipment of Ukrainian formations, command posts and locations of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), on the infrastructure of military airfields, ammunition and fuel depots. All targets have been successfully hit.

In addition, units of the Southern Group of Forces improved their position along the front line, and the enemy lost more than 200 soldiers, four vehicles, two electronic warfare stations, a Kozak armored combat vehicle, two artillery pieces and three ammunition depots in their area of responsibility.

Air defense systems destroyed two missiles of the American HIMARS multiple launch rocket system and 258 drones, including 103 shot down outside the area of the special military operation.

In total, since the beginning of the special military operation, 36,698 units of special military vehicles, 663 aircraft, 62725 unmanned aerial vehicles, 23,849 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 1,572 multiple rocket launchers, 283 helicopters, 25,990 field artillery guns and mortars, 611 anti-aircraft missile systems have been destroyed.
