- The Hydrometeorological Center predicted dangerous weather in four districts of Russia
Roman Vilfand, scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center of Russia, said on June 9 that heavy rains, thunderstorms and wind are expected in the regions of the Northwestern, Central, Siberian and Far Eastern Federal districts in the coming days.
"Showers, thunderstorms, and winds of 20 m/s are forecast for the Leningrad, Pskov, and Novgorod regions on Monday, while rain, thunderstorms, and hail are forecast for Komi and Karelia. The weather in the Moscow region is completely unusual due to the passage of the front: first the heat, and then a gradual decrease in temperature," the expert told TASS.
Vilfand added that heavy rains, thunderstorms and hail will occur in the central part of European Russia — in the Tver, Tula, Ivanovo and Vladimir regions. Similar weather is expected in the southern regions of the Khabarovsk Territory.
Heavy rains with thunderstorms are also expected in the coming days in the Altai Republic, Altai Territory, Krasnoyarsk Territory, Khakassia, as well as in Irkutsk and Kemerovo regions, said the scientific director of the Hydrometeorological Center.
According to the expert, severe heat will persist in the south of the Central Chernozem region. +35 degrees Celsius is expected in the Lipetsk region, in the Belgorod region the temperature will rise to +36 degrees, and in the Voronezh region it may reach +37 degrees.
The Hydrometeorological Center predicted partly cloudy weather, short-term rain, thunderstorms, hail and up to +30 degrees in the capital region on Monday, June 9. Southerly and southwesterly winds with a speed of 6-11 m/s are expected, in places gusts may reach 20 m/s.
