Three aircraft en route to the capital's Vnukovo Airport decided to head to alternate airfields due to a thunderstorm in Moscow, said Artem Korenyako, a representative of the Federal Air Transport Agency, on June 8.
"As of 18:15 Moscow time, the commanders of three aircraft flying to Vnukovo decided to "leave" for alternate airfields," he wrote on his Telegram channel.
Specialists from the Federal Air Transport Agency and the State Corporation for Air Traffic Management have stepped up monitoring of air transport operations in the Moscow region amid worsening weather.
On the same day, it was reported that some flight schedules had been changed due to flooding in Vnukovo due to heavy rain. Passengers were urged to monitor flight status information on the official website of Vnukovo Airport and airlines.
