- A German journalist called Kiev's refusal to take the bodies of the dead soldiers "piggishness."
German journalist and political analyst Thomas Rapper, in an interview with Izvestia on June 8, called the refusal of the Ukrainian authorities to take the bodies of the dead servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) "piggishness".
"This is, of course, piggish. This is just piggishness. <...> As a political analyst, I ask myself, how can negotiations [go on] at all? <...> Ukraine is not even ready to fulfill a simple humanitarian issue like the exchange of corpses," the Reporter said.
According to him, Ukraine apparently does not need the bodies of dead soldiers if the country refused the agreed exchange. The rapper noted that the situation on the spot can be described as sad.
Yesterday, Russian presidential aide Vladimir Medinsky said that the Ukrainian side had unexpectedly postponed indefinitely the reception of the bodies of dead soldiers and the exchange of prisoners of war. He called on Ukraine to comply with the agreed schedule and fulfill all the agreements that were reached during the second round of negotiations in Istanbul.
Later, the representative of the Russian negotiating group, Lieutenant General Alexander Zorin, said that the Russian side was ready to fulfill all agreements in the context of the exchange of prisoners of war and the transfer of the bodies of dead Ukrainian soldiers. He noted that the first batch of 1,212 bodies of Ukrainian servicemen is already in the exchange area.
