By the end of May 2025, 91.2 thousand new passenger cars were sold in Russia, which is 28.3% less than in the same month last year. This is stated in the message of the analytical agency Autostat, which was received by Izvestia on June 3.

Lada remains the leader in the brand rating, accounting for 28% of the market at the end of spring, which in quantitative terms amounts to 25.6 thousand copies sold.

Haval has again become the most popular among foreign brands, with cars selling 10.6 thousand units in May. Next are Chery (9780 units), Geely and Changan (6299 and 5639 units, respectively). Belgee, Jetour, Omoda, Solaris and Jaecoo rounded out the top ten.

Seven of the 10 leading brands had negative sales dynamics in May, with Omoda having the strongest sales dynamics (-53.3% YoY). Growth was shown by Belgee (+0.4%), Jetour (+8.3%) and Solaris (+69.7%).

In just five months of this year, 440.3 thousand new passenger cars were sold in Russia, which is 26% less than in January—May 2024. At the end of five months, sales fell for six brands out of the top ten, while Geely's figures sank the most (-49.3%). The other four have recorded market growth, and Solaris has the best growth (3.6 times).

The day before, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation explained that in May, seasonality is traditionally an additional factor influencing the decline in sales compared to April. And the rate of decline in sales of domestic models turned out to be lower than that of foreign cars.
