Mining of cryptocurrencies has been stopped in Makeyevka
On the territory of the city of Makeyevka in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR), police officers stopped the illegal activities of three individuals who mined cryptocurrency using mining farms. This was announced on May 27 by the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR).
During the search, law enforcement officers found 33 pieces of equipment that were used for illegal mining of cryptocurrencies. To avoid paying for the electricity consumed, the attackers connected devices bypassing metering devices. It is specified that the defendants used high-tech equipment, which was cooled by a liquid system using so-called dry water.
"The investigators found that the attackers had been engaged in illegal activities for a long time. A procedural check is currently underway, according to the results of which the issue of initiating a criminal case will be decided," the message says.
It is specified that violators face a maximum penalty of imprisonment for up to five years with a fine of up to 80 thousand rubles.
Earlier, on January 27, law enforcement agencies stopped a major mining theft of electricity. Illegally attached equipment was found in an uninhabited building on the outskirts of the rural settlement of Gazi-Yurt.
