Venezuela continues to work towards joining BRICS

Venezuela cooperates with all BRICS members, feels itself part of the mechanism and will continue to work on formal accession to the association. This was reported to Izvestia by the Foreign Minister of the Bolivarian Republic, Ivan Gil Pinto.

"Venezuela is a country that is in strategic cooperation with most of the countries from BRICS. We are close to the ideas of BRICS and we will continue to work, promoting projects, helping to build financial mechanisms, solidarity, and the development of our economies. We feel part of BRICS and we will continue to work in this direction," said the Venezuelan Foreign Minister.

Caracas had hoped to become part of the BRICS mechanism after the summit under the Russian presidency in Kazan in October 2024, but this did not happen due to the lack of consensus among the members of the association.
