President of Republika Srpska (Entity of Bosnia and Herzegovina, BiH) Milorad Dodik said on April 24 that the crisis in BiH could be resolved if the country extradited Christian Schmidt, the UN High Representative in BiH, to the Serbian side.

"The solution is for Schmidt to be extradited from the BiH Federation, and we would deal with him, conduct a trial, and put him in our prison for presenting himself falsely and trying to abolish Bosnia and Herzegovina," Dodik is quoted as saying by the N1 publication.

This is how Dodik reacted to statements that Schmidt had decided to suspend all budget payments allocated to finance the political parties SNSD (Alliance of Independent Social Democrats) and United Serbian.

"All public funds intended to finance these parties at all levels of the government of Bosnia and Herzegovina will be frozen and redirected to a special account with the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina," Schmidt was quoted as saying by the newspaper N1.

He explained that this measure is aimed at supporting state institutions in countering "the current blatant attacks by the ruling coalition in Republika Srpska."

According to Dodik, Schmidt came to BiH "using fascist methods. He is an impostor without any mandate. His presence is destroying Bosnia and Herzegovina."

He then threatened to arrest Schmidt if he entered the territory of Republika Srpska.

"If he shows up here, we will detain him. The solution is obvious: Schmidt is out, his solutions are out. We will block the application of his decrees. Only a Bosnia that is not imposed, and not one that is ruled by outsiders, can survive," said the President of Republika Srpska.

Earlier, on February 25, it was reported that if Milorad Dodik is convicted, Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), which includes this autonomy, will face harmful consequences. The Russian Foreign Ministry recalled that Christian Schmidt, the High Representative for BiH, whose orders Dodik is accused of disobeying, has not been approved by the UN.

Later, on February 26, the court of Bosnia and Herzegovina sentenced Dodik in absentia to a year in prison in the case of non-compliance with the decisions of the UN High Representative in BiH, Christian Schmidt. He has also been banned from engaging in political activities for six years.
