The Interior Ministry revealed details about foreigners who received "golden visas" in the Russian Federation

Turkish citizens received the largest number of residence permits for foreign investors — 3. This was told to Izvestia on March 17 in the Department for Interaction with Civil Society Institutions and the Media (UOS) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

According to the agency, since the beginning of the new legislation, 10 residence permits have been issued to foreign investors. The recipients include citizens of the Federal Republic of Germany (2), the United States of America (1), Georgia (1), the Republic of Azerbaijan (1), the People's Republic of China (1), the Republic of Korea (1) and Turkey (3).

"We inform you that starting from January 11, 2023, a foreign citizen who has made investments in the Russian Federation, as well as his family members, have the right to apply for a residence permit without obtaining a temporary residence permit if certain criteria are met," the ministry said.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs noted that the applicants had chosen Moscow, as well as the Smolensk and Kirov regions, as their places of residence.

This is modest even considering the sanctions and the novelty of the program — the mechanism may still be rehabilitated in the future.

Earlier, on February 26, Senior Partner of the Pen Bar Association & Anton Imennov, in an interview with Izvestia, called the issuance of a "golden visa" to 10 foreigners a significant result. According to him, the relatively small number of approved visas may be explained by the fact that investors first assess the prospects for doing business in the country, analyze regulatory and macroeconomic conditions, and then decide on investments.
