The media reported on the skeptical attitude of the Germans towards Merz

Most Germans are not sure that the leader of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), Friedrich Merz, will cope with the duties of chancellor. This was reported on March 11 by RTL TV channel with reference to a survey by the forsa Institute for Market Research and Public Opinion.
According to the survey results, 52% of respondents believe that Merz will make many mistakes and will not be able to become an effective head of government.
At the same time, 38% of the respondents are confident in his competence. Another 10% found it difficult to answer.
Early elections to the Bundestag were held on February 23. They were won by the CDU/CSU bloc, which received 28.6% of the vote. The Social Democratic Party (SPD), led by Chancellor Olaf Scholz, showed the worst result in its history, gaining 16.4%. The second place was taken by the "Alternative for Germany" (20.8%), and the third place was taken by the "Greens" (11.6%). The Left bloc became the fifth in terms of the number of votes with 8.8%.
