Uragan multiple-launch rocket systems (MLRS) continue their combat operations in the southern Donetsk region of the Special Military Operation (SMO) zone in Ukraine, ensuring the advance of motorized rifle units of the Russian Armed Forces. This was reported by the press service of the Russian Defense Ministry on February 8.

"The targets are enemy manpower, lightly armored vehicles, in general we hit the rear, we process the rear. Recently the enemy has subsided, there is not enough personnel and equipment," said the commander of the calculation with the call sign Eighteen.

Now the main task of the artillerymen of the southern grouping of troops is to support the assault units, which are now clearing the forest belts north of Velikaya Novoselka.

"Artillerymen are on round-the-clock combat duty, working closely with UAV [unmanned aerial vehicle - Ed.] calculations and reconnaissance units. As a rule, the units work on targets that are deep behind enemy lines. First of all, these are ammunition depots, equipment, as well as AFU strongholds," the Defense Ministry said.

Earlier, the fighters of the group "West" demonstrated the combat operation of the UAV "Cube". The servicemen first installed the battery, then prepared the warhead weighing 4 kg. Meanwhile, in the dugout, operators monitored the drone's flight and its destruction of an AFU mortar point.

Earlier, on January 9, it was reported that Rostec State Corporation sent to the Russian troops a batch of new ground drones "Depesha" with a payload of up to 200 kg. It is reported that the design of "Depesha" allows mounting various equipment on it. Thanks to this, the platform can be used for a wide range of tasks. It is able to quickly deliver to the front line cargo weighing up to 200 kg.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the backdrop of the worsening situation in the region.
