At an auction in New York for $ 11.25 million sold made in 1714 by the legendary master Antonio Stradivari violin Joachim-Ma. About it on Friday, February 7, reported the auction house Sotheby's.

"It was created at the height of Stradivari's 'Golden Period' and is considered the pinnacle of his aesthetic and acoustic mastery," the press release said.

The instrument is named in honor of its two prominent former owners, Hungarian virtuoso Joseph Joachim (1831-1907) and renowned Chinese violinist and teacher Xi-Hong Ma (1925-2009).

Joachim was a close associate of Johannes Brahms, and he almost certainly played this very instrument during the premiere of Brahms' Violin Concerto in D Major (Opus 77) in 1879.

Prior to that, on January 15, the guitars of British virtuoso musician Jeff Beck were shown at an exhibition in London ahead of the auction. Visitors were able to see the performer's musical instruments and Beck's personal items.
