Traffic across the Russian-Georgian border suspended due to bad weather
Traffic on the Russian-Georgian border through the Verkhny Lars checkpoint in the direction of leaving Russia has been suspended for all types of vehicles due to bad weather. This was reported in the Federal Customs Service (FCS) of the Russian Federation on February 7.
First, at 18:28 Moscow time, traffic was suspended for heavy-duty vehicles.
"Due to worsening weather conditions, traffic through the checkpoint Verkhny Lars in the direction to the exit from the Russian Federation is suspended for all types of transport, including passenger cars," reads the message published in the Telegram-channel.
The Verkhny Lars checkpoint is located on the Georgian Military Road, which runs through the high mountains. The highway connects Russia with the Transcaucasian countries, including Georgia. In the Russian section, the road passes through North Ossetia.
