The State Duma has drafted a bill to reduce the working week in Russia to 36 hours. This was reported by Svetlana Bessarab, a member of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans' Affairs.

In a conversation with Lenta.ru deputy said that examples of similar labor relations already exist in European countries, so the reduction of the working week to 36 hours is quite feasible. At the same time, Bessarab noted that employees of various industries will not be affected by such a reduction, as it will entail an increase in costs and production costs.

"But such a schedule is possible for office employees, those who are engaged in trade, in the provision of services," - said the MP and noted that such a transition shows good results in other countries regarding the speed of performance of tasks by employees and their focus on work.

Bessarab expressed confidence that many employers will want to participate in the experiment, as such a shortened working week would interest many applicants. As for the timing of the bill, the deputy specified that it was planned to do so after the end of the Ukrainian conflict.

Earlier on February 7, Duma deputy Avksentyeva in a conversation with 360.ru suggested studying the Japanese experience of transition to a four-day work week. According to her, it would have a positive impact on working mothers.

On February 6, Duma deputy Sergei Kolunov noted in a conversation with RT that at the moment every employer can introduce a four-day work week on its own. According to him, such changes are introduced into the employment contract and can be considered both for all employees of the organization and for individual positions.

At the same time on February 7 it became known that the State Duma has developed a bill to increase the number of holidays in Russia. Thus, the first deputy head of the faction "Just Russia - Patriots for Truth" Dmitry Gusev proposed to officially make Easter and Trinity days off.
