In the Murmansk region filed a lawsuit to recognize the genocide of the people of the USSR during WWII

The Prosecutor's Office of Murmansk region has sent a petition to the court asking to recognize the actions of the Nazi invaders in the region during the Great Patriotic War (WWII) as genocide of the Soviet people. This was reported in the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Russian Federation on February 7.

It is specified that the corresponding statement was sent on behalf of the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation Igor Krasnov.

"It is established that during the period of military operations the territory of the Murmansk region was subjected to partial occupation, affecting settlements in border areas (from 1941 to 1944). <...> The total number of victims of the occupiers, killed, tortured in camps, died as a result of disease and starvation, exceeds 15 thousand people," the report said.

In addition, captured Red Army fighters were kept in inhumane conditions, the number of those who died as a result of disease and starvation exceeds 15 thousand people.

Because of the bombardment of the cities of Murmansk region more than 1.5 thousand houses were destroyed. The total damage caused by the Nazis during the World War II was estimated at Br1.3 trillion.

Earlier, February 6, the prosecutor's office of Kherson voblast asked the court to recognize the crimes of the Nazis during the WWII in the region as genocide. The oversight agency recalled that the territories, which now make up Kherson region, were part of the Nikolaev and Zaporizhzhya regions of the Ukrainian SSR during the Second World War. Nazi Germany occupied these territories in August 1941, and on March 13, 1944 the Red Army liberated Kherson, during which time more than 70 thousand people died.

Before that, on February 4, the court recognized the Nazi crimes on the territory of Kalmykia during the WWII as genocide. In the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia said that experts have fully recreated the picture of Hitlerite crimes against the security of humanity and the world.
