Akhmat Special Forces repulsed an AFU counterattack in the border area of Kursk Region

Servicemen of the Akhmat special forces repelled an attempt by the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) to break through the defense of the Russian Army and occupy the recently lost villages of Cherkasskaya, Konopelka and Ulanok in the Kursk border region. The fighters told Izvestia correspondent Vladislav Kharchenko about this on February 6.

The footage from the special forces' objective control camera shows pounded tanks and armored combat vehicles (ACVs), on which the AFU tried to break through the Russian defense.

It is specified that Ukrainian formations put up a pontoon bridge to drive to Cherkasskaya Konopelka, after which they began to attack in several directions.

"Along this direction they had three waves directed. The first wave, the second wave to Cherkasska Konopelka and the third to Ulanok," Kharchenko commented.

However, Russian units have been waiting for this sortie of the AFU for over a month. The Ukrainian command exactly repeated the scenario of its counterattack on the farm Berdin in early January: they waited for frost and went in columns of armored vehicles forward, across the open fields.

"The first column of armored vehicles choked almost immediately after the AFU crossed the river. The second column went further, but there it was met by our drone operators and completely destroyed", - informed the correspondent.

After the failure in this area, the AFU unsuccessfully tried to move on the village of Kruglenkoe. During the half-day assault, the Ukrainian army lost six tanks, three demining vehicles, three BMPs and more than 200 soldiers.

Now the Russian infantry is continuing to clear the wooded areas. At the same time, a new attempt of counterattack by the AFU is expected on this site by morning. On top of that, it is reported that Ukrainian formations have pulled up several dozen more tanks and armored vehicles from Sumy region to Sudzha.

On this day, the Russian Defense Ministry reported that the AFU lost more than 200 people during an attempted counteroffensive in Kursk region. It was specified that since the morning of February 6, the AFU had launched eight waves of attacks in this direction, all of which were repulsed.

The Defense Ministry showed footage of the reflection of AFU vehicles in the area of Cherkasskaya Konopelka and Ulanka in the Kursk region. Fighting vehicles of the Ukrainian army managed to destroy with the help of FPV drones.

The AFU attacked Russian positions in the border areas of the Kursk region on August 6, 2024. The situation in the region was recognized as a state of emergency of federal character. The liquidation of the Ukrainian militants who invaded the Russian territory is underway.
