Scientific expedition vessel "Akademik Fedorov" and paddleboat "Akros" of traveler Fyodor Konyukhov on February 6 met in the area of the South Atlantic at about 20:00 Moscow time. This was reported by the headquarters of the traveler in the Telegram-channel.

"This meeting is very important for us! It was prepared for three days by a large number of people on different continents," - reported in the published record.

"Akademik Fedorov" left Cape Town (South Africa) on February 3 in the direction of Antarctica. Konyukhov's HQ team spotted the ship's movement through Vessel Finder, a website that allows you to track the routes of traveling ships. Realizing that the traveler and scientists would soon be in the same area, the headquarters offered to capture the Akros boat and its captain sailing through the South Atlantic in photos and video.

"A corresponding letter was sent to the Arctic and Antarctic Research Institute (AARI) and to Roshydromet. The leadership of these institutions supported our request and agreed to bring the ships closer together. And now we can observe the Akros paddleboat on the vastness of the South Atlantic," Konyukhov's team also said.

In addition to filming the traveler, scientists from "Akademik Fedorov" helped him to check the communication and operation of the boat's systems. They confirmed the work of the radio station, the presence of communication, as well as the fact that "Akros" is visible on radar. Fedor Konyukhov himself is in good health.

It is reported that currently the crew of the scientific vessel continues to send the team of the traveler filmed photos and videos.

Before that, on February 4, it became known that the traveler's boat was caught in a storm in the South Atlantic. He reported that the wave damaged the windsock and had to steer the boat blind. There was a spare part, but it was only possible to install it in good weather.

Earlier, on August 6, 2024, Russian traveler Fyodor Konyukhov, who set a world record for a single stay on an ice floe near the North Pole, told about the impressions he received during the expedition. He spent almost three weeks at the drifting polar station in conditions of endless snowfalls and icy rains with wind gusts up to 60 meters per second.

Fyodor Konyukhov holds 25 world records for five round-the-world voyages. During his life he has written 20 books in which he tells about his travels.
