Five-time Champions League winner with Real Madrid Marcelo has ended his career
Marcelo, a former player of Real Madrid soccer club (FC) and the Brazilian national team, announced on February 6 that he had decided to end his career at the age of 36.
He noted that "Real" is a unique club for him. In its ranks he played 16 seasons, won 25 titles and won the Champions League five times.
"My journey as a footballer is ending, but I still have a lot to give to soccer," the Brazilian said in a video message on his Instagram page (belongs to the organization Meta, recognized as extremist and banned in Russia).
Marcelo said that he got his love for soccer from his grandfather, who wanted his grandson to become a professional athlete. Thanks to his efforts it happened. At the age of 18 Marcelo became a Real Madrid footballer, created a family in Madrid and is proud to call himself a part of this city.
In the Madrid club Marcelo played from 2007 to 2022, spending 546 matches (38 goals and 103 effective passes), notes "Sport-Express". The Brazilian also six times became champion of Spain, in the Brazilian national team on his account - 58 matches and six goals.
Before that, on January 24, announced the end of career 36-year-old Norwegian biathlete, three-time Olympic champion Tarjei Boe after winning the sprint at the World Cup in Antholz. The athlete noted that he felt all winter that it was time to end his career, despite the upcoming Olympics. Bø also added that he wants to spend more time with his wife and family.
