UK Foreign Office strips accreditation of Russian diplomat

The UK Foreign Office has stripped a Russian diplomat of his accreditation. This was reported on February 6 on the website of the press service of the government of the United Kingdom.

"We have summoned the Russian Ambassador (Andrei Kelin. - Ed.) to meet with a senior British official to withdraw accreditation from a Russian diplomat," - stated in the message.

It is noted that these measures were introduced against the background of the expulsion of a British diplomat from Russia in November last year.

In addition, the statement notified that further actions of Moscow will be regarded as escalation" and will entail an appropriate response.

On November 26, 2024, Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) reported that Wilkes Edward Pryor, an employee of the British Embassy, was conducting intelligence and subversive work that threatened the country's security. The British diplomat has been stripped of his accreditation and will be expelled from Russia to his home country. At the same time, the UK threatened Russia with a response.

The British ambassador to the Russian capital, Nigel Casey, who was summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry on November 26, strongly protested against the information that Pryor had knowingly provided false information about himself when obtaining an entry permit.
