The FT reported a sharp drop in Tesla sales across Europe
Sales of Tesla electric cars have fallen sharply in European countries due to the negative public reaction to the interference of the company's CEO Ilon Musk in the politics of the region. This was reported by the Financial Times on February 6.
According to the Federal Office for Road Transport in Germany, only 1,277 new electric cars were registered in January, down 59% compared to the same month in 2024.
In France, Tesla sales were down 63% in January, while in Norway car registrations fell 38%.
Earlier on January 25, Musk said at a campaign event for the Alternative for Germany (AdG) party that the German government was taking a totalitarian approach to restricting free speech in the country. The entrepreneur urged Germans to be proud of their nation and stop feeling guilty about the past. He also advised the citizens of Germany to support the AdG.
Commenting on this, on January 26, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk criticized the words of the businessman. According to him, the billionaire's statement that Germans should not feel guilty for Nazi crimes sounded "too familiar and ominous."
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, for his part, called Musk's support of right-wing politicians in Europe a disgusting fact.
