The DNR detained an AFU serviceman hiding in the basement of a house in Kurakhovo

A serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) who was hiding in the basement of a house has been detained in Kurakhovo in the Donetsk People's Republic (DNR). About it on February 6 reported in the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the region.

"Employees of the temporary police Department "Kurakhovsky" of the Interior Ministry for the Donetsk People's Republic during the verification of operational information revealed in the basement of one of the houses affected by shelling a serviceman of the armed forces of Ukraine", - stated in the Telegram-channel of the Department.

From the video, which was published by the Interior Ministry, it follows that the 26-year-old man was serving in the 72nd separate mechanized brigade of the AFU as a communications officer. After fleeing from the main forces of Ukrainian militants, he hid in basements, but he was discovered by the Interior Ministry officers.

"The detainee was handed over to representatives of the military commandant's office for further proceedings", - specified in the Department.

Earlier, on January 11, the Southern group of troops reported the capture of 16 AFU soldiers in the Kurakhov direction. It was specified that after the offensive of the 110th Guards Brigade of the 51st Guards All-Russian Army and the dropping of leaflets from drones calling for surrender, the Ukrainian servicemen were voluntarily captured.

The Defense Ministry reportedon the liberation of Kurakhovo by the Russian military on January 6. The ministry said that it was the largest town in southwestern Donbas. During the fighting to liberate the settlement, the AFU lost more than 12,000 people and about 3,000 weapons and military equipment.

The special operation to protect Donbass, the start of which was announced by Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 24, 2022, continues. The decision was made against the background of the aggravated situation in the region.
