61% of Russians consider science to be an attractive field of employment. This became known on February 5 from the results of a survey conducted by the Modern Media Institute (MOMRI) in cooperation with the TV channel "Nauka" among 1.6 thousand adult residents of the Russian Federation.
"The share of Russians who believe that doing science in Russia is attractive has increased compared to previous waves of the study, conducted annually," - said the authors of the survey.
It is specified that, according to past surveys, this figure was 55% in December 2023, 60% in December 2022 and 52% in December 2021.
"As in the previous year, the most positive attitudes regarding work in science among young people and middle-aged Russians (the share of positive responses in the ages of 18-45 years exceeds 60%)," - said the researchers.
The number of parents who potentially see their children's future in the scientific industry is also growing. According to the results of 2024, their share amounted to 55%.
Earlier in the day, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on awarding prizes to young scientists for 2024. According to Andrei Fursenko, aide to the head of state, at a press conference in Moscow, Putin will present the presidential awards for science and innovation for young scientists on Thursday, February 6, in the Kremlin.
On January 28, Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matvienko called Moscow State University a national treasure of Russia. She added that the unique resource of MSU will be directed to the development of Russia, to the strengthening of its economy, science, technology, and industry.
