Participating countries will be able to show their best musical traditions without censorship at the Intervision international music contest. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said this on February 5 during a roundtable on Ukraine with the heads of diplomatic missions accredited in Moscow.

"A couple of days ago, Russian President [Vladimir Putin] signed a decree on holding <...> the international song contest Intervision, which will provide an opportunity for all countries to show their best musical traditions without any censorship," he said.

According to the Russian Foreign Minister, 20 countries have already applied for participation, as well as for sending their representatives to the contest jury.

Lavrov noted that the contest will become a platform for interaction between artists from different countries of the world.

"I guarantee there will be no perversions and mockery of human nature there, as we observed during the Olympic Games in Paris," the Russian foreign minister added.

Putin signed a decree on holding the international music competition "Intervision" in Moscow and the Moscow region in 2025 on February 3.

The plan to hold Intervision this year was announced in June 2024 by Mikhail Shvydkoy, the Russian president's special envoy for international cultural cooperation. At that time he noted that the details of cooperation of national TV and radio companies with their colleagues in the Russian Federation are being clarified.

In May, the Russian Foreign Ministry said that Intervision is scheduled to become an annual event, and the idea of holding it in Russia has aroused great interest abroad. The event will become an open platform for demonstrating authentic national song culture.
