Aliyev allocates $1 mln for humanitarian aid to Ukraine

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has allocated $1m to the Energy Ministry to provide humanitarian aid to Ukraine. This follows from the order published on the website of the head of state.

"I decree to allocate to the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Azerbaijan from the reserve fund <...> funds in the amount of $1 million in manat equivalent for the purchase and shipment of electrical equipment produced in the AR to provide humanitarian aid to Ukraine," the document says.

It is specified that the Azerbaijani government has sent humanitarian aid to Kiev several times. Thus, in July 2023, Aliyev allocated $7.6 million in manat equivalent to the country's Ministry of Energy to purchase and send electrical equipment to Ukraine, Gazeta.Ru added.

Earlier, on January 28, Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fitzo said that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky (powers expired on May 20, 2024), after he was pressured, began to allow the possibility of gas transit through the country from Azerbaijan. However, the politician emphasized that the best solution for the European Union (EU) would be for Kiev to resume pumping gas from Russia.
