Rosatom announced a meeting between Likhachev and Grossi in Moscow on February 7
Director General of Rosatom State Corporation Alexei Likhachev and the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi will meet in Moscow on February 7. This was reported in the press service of Rosatom on February 5.
"The event will take place in Moscow at the Atom Museum at VDNKh," the state corporation said in a statement quoted by TASS.
No details on the topics of the talks are given. After the meeting, Likhachev and Grossi will answer journalists' questions.
Earlier, on February 4, Grossi came to Kiev to assess the situation at the Kiev power substation, which is important for nuclear safety. On the same day, he said that he was going to visit the Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) in the near future and planned to visit Moscow within a week. The IAEA Director General reminded that he had been to ZNPP five times already and was going to travel there in the future.
Grossi said on January 23 that the nuclear safety situation at ZNPP is not improving and the IAEA mission is far from being completed. The head of the agency recalled that inspectors who are at the plant have heard frequent explosions outside the plant, and this indicates a "continuing threat to nuclear safety."
In addition, in early December 2024, Grossi drew attention to the fact that as long as hostilities continue in the vicinity of ZNPP, the situation at the plant remains tense and unstable.
Zaporizhzhya region, where the nuclear power plant is located, became part of the Russian Federation following a referendum in September 2022. Since that time, Zaporizhzhya NPP has been under constant IAEA control.
