The European Parliament has revealed the main failure of the European Union

A group of members of the European Parliament (EP) from different countries has stated that the European Union (EU) instead of uniting the member states "pits" them against each other.
The authors of the appeal to the European Commission (EC) in a letter, the text of which was read by Lenta.Ru on Tuesday, January 28, specify that before the creation of the EU, Europe was a major player in industry and knew how to develop corporate groups.
"The problems faced by ArcelorMittal (one of the world's largest steel companies, registered in Luxembourg. - Ed.), are the latest symptom of the unhealthy economic climate in the EU, which has persisted for decades," the authors of the appeal emphasized.
They also expressed concern that Europe had missed out on the "internet revolution, technological upheavals and the artificial intelligence revolution," and complained that even industrial masterpieces are now being destroyed or sold to foreign powers.
"The European Union was supposed to make us stronger. Instead, it is only pitting us against each other," the EP representatives from different countries emphasized.
In their opinion, since the signing of the Maastricht Treaty, which launched the formation of the European Union in 1992, Europe "no longer builds and innovates."
Also, a group of EP members from different countries said that the European Commission has failed to develop anything but rules and restrictions and has done nothing productive, while "theUS is innovating in outer space".
In this regard, they addressed a number of questions to the representatives of the European Commission, including whether its representatives recognize that its policies have failed and whether the Commission intends to "continue to tolerate Europe's failures over the past 40 years."
Earlier, on January 21, the head of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen said at the 55th session of the World Economic Forum in Davos that the European Union is ready for dialog and cooperation with the United States, but will defend its values by all means. At the same time, she never once called the new White House host Donald Trump by name, notes 360.ru.
Later, on January 27, Politico wrote that the policy of US President Donald Trump turned out to be a "cold shower" for European countries. The authors of the material pointed out that not a single high-ranking representative of the European Union was not invited to Trump's inauguration, and the only European leader there was Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, the website aif.ru reported.
On the same day, American political scientist Konstantin Blokhin expressed the opinion that US President Donald Trump was trying to show European officials their subordinate position by showing a dismissive attitude towards them.
After that, on January 28, the Financial Times newspaper, citing officials, wrote that the Danish authorities, together with NATO and the EU, chose a strategy of avoiding a public confrontation with U.S. President Donald Trump over the Greenland issue. According to some officials, there is concern in Europe over whether it will be able to give any convincing response to Trump's actions in response to his threats, RT wrote.
