FCS denied sending out messages demanding additional payment of duties on cars

The Federal Customs Service (FCS) of the Russian Federation has denied information about mass mailing of requests to car owners to pay additional customs duties.
"The Federal Customs Service of Russia does not confirm the information that appeared in the media about the mass mailing by the department to the owners of parallel imported cars of requirements to pay additional customs duties," TASS quoted the department's message on January 28.
Earlier, on January 15, it was reported that in Russia the court demanded from a Russian citizen to pay an additional 1.37 million rubles for the Chinese car he bought after the FCS revealed the fact of underestimation of the value of the car imported into the country. Initially, the customs service demanded to pay an additional Br734.5 thousand, but the declarant decided to exercise the right to challenge the adjustment through the court. While the court proceedings were going on, penalties were accrued on this amount, and eventually it grew to Br1.37 million.
