Ex-finance director of the Tenth Bearing Plant detained in embezzlement case
Former Director for Economics and Finance of the Tenth Bearing Plant Nikolai Borisov has been detained in a criminal case of fraud with embezzlement of at least 800 million rubles in the execution of the state defense order. This was reported in the Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia on January 16.
"The investigation found that in 2021, LLC "Tenth Bearing Plant" in the course of execution of the state defense order [was] concluded more than 70 contracts for the supply of bearing products to enterprises of the defense industry complex for a total amount of at least 1.5 billion rubles. In 2022, Borisov stole at least 800 million rubles by unreasonably inflating the prices of the supplied products and forging documents," the agency said in its Telegram channel.
The Main Military Investigative Directorate of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation opened a case against the former Director of Finance under Part 4 Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Fraud on a large scale"). The defendant was taken into custody, the investigation is continuing.
Earlier, on December 23, 2024, a criminal case was opened against Olga Burlakova, head of the structural unit of the Central Housing and Utilities Directorate (TsZhKU) of the Russian Ministry of Defense, who is suspected of abuse of authority in the execution of a state contract. According to the investigation, in 2019, she accepted substandard work, which led to more than 10 water supply accidents and caused damage to the state worth over 27 million rubles.
