Air defense forces destroyed 27 Ukrainian UAVs overnight over four Russian regions
The air defense forces intercepted and destroyed 27 Ukrainian drones overnight over four Russian regions. This was reported by the Russian Defense Ministry on January 16.
"During the past night on duty air defense means intercepted and destroyed 27 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles," the ministry said in a statement.
It is specified that 15 enemy UAVs were destroyed over the territory of the Belgorod region, seven - over the territory of the Voronezh region, three - over the Tambov region and two - in the Kursk region.
Earlier, on January 15, the Russian Defense Ministry said that air defense forces destroyed five Ukrainian drones over two regions of Russia. Thus, four drones were eliminated over the territory of the Voronezh region and one over the Belgorod region. The attacks were repelled between 18:40 and 18:50 Moscow time.
Ukrainian militants are trying to strike Russian territories against the background of the special operation in Donbass, the start of which was announced on February 24, 2022. The decision was taken due to the aggravation of the situation in the region due to shelling by the Ukrainian military.
