Experts have noted the growing popularity of Chinese cars in Russian taxi fleets
Today, more than 40% of Russian taxi fleets already use Chinese models due to the rising prices of European and Japanese-made cars. This was told to "Izvestia" on January 16 by experts of Ivitech company.
"If three years ago cars of Chinese brands were perceived with caution, today they are full-fledged competitors to traditional brands," Ivitech CEO Artem Moskalev said.
According to him, more than 40% of taxi fleets have already made a choice in favor of Chinese cars. Sanctions measures, the withdrawal of European brands and the rise in prices for European and Japanese cars forced taxi fleets to look for more profitable and reliable alternatives. In this context, cars of Chinese manufacturers have become the best option, as they have a modern appearance, high equipment and favorable terms of purchase.
According to experts, Chery, Geely, Haval and BYD brands are the most popular among taxi fleets, offering both budget and premium models. One of the key factors in the choice was the availability of ready-made solutions for cab operation: extended life, economy and low maintenance costs.
Last year, on December 11, Alexei Tuzov, an independent transportation industry expert, told Izvestia that demand for new cars in early 2025 may decrease by 10-20%, while car prices are expected to increase by 10-15%.
