Putin cited Izvestia as an example of paper media in Russia

Paper books and mass media will retain their place in the changing world if they contain worthy content, Russian President Vladimir Putin said on December 19 during the "Results of the Year". He cited issues of the Izvestia newspaper as an example, among others.
"I think that paper journalism will have its place in this huge changing world as well as a paper book. But there is an opportunity to flip through a gadget - everything is in a good font and in different languages. I myself, frankly speaking, sometimes use it," said the head of state.
At the same time, Putin called the opportunity to take in hand a printed book a different story, noting that it is not only due to the presence of illustrations, which sometimes look like works of art.
"And paper journalism. Here take in your hands the same "Izvestia" or "Komsomolka", leaf through, dig in. There is a kind of high in it, isn't there?" - noted the President.
He expressed hope that the employees of the paper media will take into account the public's continuing interest in this type of publications. According to Putin, the main factor is the content, so if the content is more worthy than on the Internet, paper media will be preserved.
Earlier, on December 12, Putin thanked Russian journalists for their objectivity in assessments and faith in the country. In particular, he noted those who are on the front lines in Donbass and Novorossiya, as well as alongside people in Kursk and Belgorod regions and elsewhere.
The direct line with Vladimir Putin in 2024 is combined with a press conference for the media. The format called "Results of the Year with Vladimir Putin" allows the president to convey his position not only on citizens' issues, but also on the state and world agenda, which is often asked by journalists. Representatives of Western media and foreign journalists accredited in Russia have also received invitations to the events.
As of the morning of December 19, the number of requests sent to the direct line with the president exceeded 2 million. The first live broadcast was held in December 2001. By the President's own admission, this event is the most powerful sociological poll, which allows citizens to convey their position and assessment of the country's leadership.
