The American company Google has restricted the creation of new accounts for Russians, but SMS-confirmation of authorization for old accounts still works. About it on Thursday, September 26, reports the Ministry of digitization of the Russian Federation.
"Google has limited the creation of new accounts. Telecom operators have also recorded a significant reduction in the number of SMS sent by the company to Russian users. SMS-confirmation as the second authorization factor for previously created Google accounts is still working, but there is no certainty that this possibility will remain," RIA Novosti quoted the ministry's message as saying .
In this regard, Russian users of Google services are recommended to create backup copies of their data and consider switching to alternative methods of two-factor authentication, as well as to use domestic platforms.
Earlier, on August 14, Google began to delete Russian AdSense accounts without prior notice. Monetization through this service was the main source of income for bloggers from posting content on the YouTube platform.
On August 15, experts in Russia recorded an outflow of Russian companies from Google and Microsoft corporate emails. According to the data of Runiti group of companies, which were reviewed by Izvestia, over the year the departure from Gmail e-mails amounted to 26%, and from Outlook - 40%. Users began to give more preference to domestic e-mail platforms, in particular domain mail of Russian hosting providers.
