A worker died while repairing a railroad bridge in Priamurye region
The Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case over the death of a worker in the Amur Region. The man was struck by a safety cage while replacing an old reinforced concrete base of a bridge.
The incident occurred on September 21 at the station crossing of Khani-Uskol in the Tyda district. According to PriamurMedia IA, the contractor organization was carrying out installation work to replace the reinforced concrete base for laying the railway track on the bridge over the Aktual brook. During the lifting of the old structure with jacks, the safety cage subsided. The structure fell onto the bridge abutment. Under the pressure of the old foundation, the safety cage flew out and struck a man born in 1978.
The victim died on the spot. The criminal case was initiated under part 2 of article 143 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("Violation of labor protection requirements that caused the death of a person by negligence").
Last week in Primorsky Krai, a worker died while repairing grain storage tanks. The man was covered with a large amount of grain.
