Inspectors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) have been familiarized with the consequences of the attack by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) on the Zarya substation of the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant. This was reported on Saturday, September 21, by the press service of ZNPP.

"IAEA inspectors present at Zaporizhzhya NPP were familiarized with the consequences of yesterday's attack of the AFU on the substation "Zarya"," - stated in the message in the Telegram-channel.

In addition, it is noted that this substation is involved in supplying power to the infrastructure of the nuclear plant, and the attack on it poses a potential threat to the safety of the nuclear power plant.

The day before, it was reported that Energodar was subjected to a repeated attack by the AFU, resulting in damage to a transformer near the ZNPP.

Also on 20 September, the Russian permanent representative to international organizations in Vienna, Mikhail Ulyanov, speaking at a session of the general conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency, said that from six to 62 Ukrainian drones were recorded and destroyed in the area of ZNPP every day.

Before that, on September 18, Energodar was subjected to a mass raid by AFU drones. On September 17, the head of the city, Eduard Senovoz , said that the city was left without electricity, water and communications after another Ukrainian shelling. He also warned residents about the possibility of new attacks.

On September 16, the head of Rosatom, Alexei Likhachev, reminded the IAEA conference that Kiev had resumed attacks on the ZNPP and was carrying out provocations against the Kursk NPP. He called such reckless behavior a threat that requires an adequate response from international organizations.

ZNPP is located in Energodar and came under Russian control following a referendum on the reunification of the Zaporizhzhya region with the Russian Federation in September 2022. Since the beginning of the same month, the nuclear power plant has been under IAEA surveillance.
