Emergencies Ministry divers examined the K-27 submarine sunk in the Kara Sea
Divers of the Russian Emergencies Ministry will examine the nuclear submarine K-27, which was sunk in the Kara Sea 42 years ago. This was reported by the agency on September 21.
According to EMERCOM, the vessel is located in Stepovoy Bay. The submarine is a radiation hazardous object.
"For a month, specialists will have to perform work at low air and water temperatures," - said in the Telegram-channel of the agency.
In addition, in the Kaliningrad region, rescuers of the Russian Emergencies Ministry examined the hull of a warship that sank off the coast of the Pioneer resort during World War II. The wreck was at a shallow depth in the area where people usually rest. Dangerous structural and upper deck elements were brought to the surface. The data on the presence of explosive objects were not confirmed.
It is specified that for five years divers of the Ministry of Emergency Situations lifted from the bottom almost 126 thousand explosive objects.
May 24, 1968 there was a radiation accident on the ship K-27. As a result of the accident the whole crew suffered, nine people died. On February 1, 1979 the boat was excluded from the USSR Navy. The vessel was sunk in 1982 in the Kara Sea.
