The rebirth of a masterpiece: the icon "The Last Judgment" from the Assumption Cathedral, 0+
Ten years of restoration — and one of the oldest Russian monuments dedicated to the second coming of the Savior appears in a historical form. The icon of the turn of the XIV–XV centuries, created in the era of Andrei Rublev, was hidden under the darkened varnish of the 1920s. Now the viewer can see her unusual interpretation: not a terrible punishment, but a joyful meeting with the Savior in bright, bright colors. X—ray studies revealed two original layers of painting - a rare evidence of the search for form right in the process of work.
From October 9 to January 13 at the Armory of the Moscow Kremlin
