Candidate of Pharmaceutical Sciences, phytochemistry specialist Igor Sokolsky explained why medications should not be taken before bedtime. In conversation with aif.ru On Friday, October 2, he noted that the time of taking medications is determined by the instructions for the drug, and in some cases by the recommendations of the attending physician.

It is undesirable to take pills just before going to bed or before going to bed for a long time, since large tablets and capsules may linger in the esophagus in some people.

If the drug is washed down with a small amount of water and immediately taken into a horizontal position, the tablet may stick to the wall of the esophagus. With prolonged contact, there is a risk of mucosal damage and the development of drug-induced esophagitis.

Previously, to reduce this risk, doctors sometimes prescribed drugs in powder form or recommended grinding tablets. Modern dosage forms are created with this problem in mind, so it is usually enough to drink the drug with the necessary amount of water.

On October 1, Gennady Onishchenko, an epidemiologist and deputy president of the Russian Academy of Education, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, said that hot cold powders should not be mixed with alcohol and coffee. He warned that alcohol in combination with paracetamol can negatively affect the liver. 360.ru .

In September, internist Svetlana Burnatskaya warned that the patient's decision to stop taking medications when improvement occurs may not only reduce the effectiveness of treatment, but also lead to more serious consequences. According to her, an improvement in well-being does not indicate a complete cure.

In July, internist and immunologist Irina Yartseva, in a conversation with the National Health Service, stated that any drugs, including nasal drops, should be used only after diagnosis, following the instructions.

In April, pharmacologist Maria Kostyleva told RT that the effectiveness of treatment depends on many factors, including the interaction of drugs with products. Tablets should be washed down with plain water. Tea and coffee can affect the effects of certain medications, while dairy products and calcium can reduce the absorption of certain antibiotics.
