The elections of State Duma deputies in 2026 have become unprecedented in terms of threats and external challenges. This was announced on September 21 by the chairman of the Central Election Commission of Russia, Ella Pamfilova.

"These elections are unprecedented in terms of the level of external threats and the degree of various challenges and dangers that we have successfully overcome," Pamfilova said at the information center of the Central Election Commission of Russia.

According to her, the situation was particularly difficult in a number of border regions. At the same time, ensuring maximum security of election participants remained the main priority during the voting process.

In frontline areas, the procedure is carried out by field teams, taking into account increased security measures.

The day before, Pamfilova reported that over 3,000 waves of DDoS attacks had been carried out on the electoral infrastructure during the election period. Thus, the remote voting system alone accounted for 135 cyber attacks, and almost 2,000 government resources.
