The Supreme court cancelled the fine to the owner of Infiniti for unpaid parking

The Supreme Court of Russia (SC RF) overturned the decisions of lower authorities in the case of the owner of Infiniti QX60, who was fined 2.5 thousand rubles for unpaid parking in Kazan. The case has been sent for a new hearing to the court of first instance, according to the materials available to "RIA Novosti".

In September 2025, the car was registered in the municipal paid parking lot. The administrative commission imposed a fine on the owner, but the man claimed that he had paid for parking through a mobile application.

It follows from the materials that the parking session was paid for from 15:41 to 16:41, and after the extension — from 17:02 to 19:00. The lower courts considered the 19-minute interval between these periods to be a violation. The Supreme Court noted that the fine was based on photographs taken at 3:45 p.m. and 5:49 p.m., when parking was paid for. There was no evidence of a car being parked during an unpaid period in the materials.

The Supreme Court of the Russian Federation also pointed out that the lower authorities did not give a proper assessment to the actions of the motorist who replenished the virtual account and extended the parking session. The Court recalled the principle of the presumption of innocence and stressed that irremediable doubts should be interpreted in favor of the person being held administratively liable.

In June, State Duma deputies from the "New People" faction proposed making the first 20 minutes of parking free in paid public parking lots throughout Russia. According to the idea, the car can be in the parking lot for free during this time: if the car leaves the place before the expiration of this time, then parking fees and fines for non-payment should not be applied. If the parking continues, then, accordingly, the continued use of the parking space must be paid for.
