Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico canceled a trip to Ukraine scheduled for September 18 due to illness. This was reported on September 18 by the TASR news agency, citing Ukrainian sources.

According to the agency, instead of the Prime Minister of Slovakia, the Minister of Internal Affairs of the country, Matusz Shutay Esztok, will attend the meeting of the Carpathian Integration Initiative.

During the visit, Robert Fico was scheduled to meet with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and Prime Minister of Ukraine Serhiy Koretsky.

On September 17, Fico admitted that there may currently be a search for a reason for a large-scale conflict between NATO and Russia. In addition, on September 7, he expressed the hope that the German authorities would not start a war with Russia. In his opinion, such a scenario may be related to an attempt to distract voters' attention from the defeat of the ruling parties in the regional elections in Saxony-Anhalt.
