Tutu analysts named popular regions for spontaneous travel by Russians

Russians choose Kaluga, Moscow Region and Karachay-Cherkessia for spontaneous trips. This conclusion was reached on August 27 by analysts of the Tutu travel service, who analyzed trips from August 1, 2025 to July 31, 2026 and compared advance ticket purchases in different directions.

"The Kaluga Region has become the most spontaneous destination for trips: 86.5% of tickets are bought there a maximum of a week before the trip. To the Moscow region — 86.1%, to Karachay-Cherkessia — 84.6%, to the Kurgan region — 82.5%, to the Leningrad region — 82.3%. The median horizon for the first three destinations is one day," the study says.

According to analysts, only 18.6% of tickets to Chukotka are bought within a week before the trip, while 31.5% are bought 61 days or more in advance.

The average horizon is 53.7 days, and the median is 32 days. On average, tickets to Kamchatka are bought in 35.3 days, and to Magadan in 35.6 days. In the Kaliningrad region, the average time horizon is 27 days, and the share of purchases for 61 days or more is 15.1%.

Short trips within the European part of Russia are more often accepted closer to the departure date, while remote destinations require an earlier decision.
