A resident of the Urals became a defendant in 18 criminal cases on the preparation of terrorist attacks.

In the Chelyabinsk region, 18 criminal cases were opened against a local resident who is suspected of preparing to send improvised explosive devices to Russian military personnel on behalf of the Ukrainian special services. This was reported to Izvestia on August 11 by the press service of the regional directorate of the FSB of Russia.

According to the agency, the staff conducted operational search activities within the framework of previously initiated cases under articles on terrorist attack, illegal trafficking of explosives and devices, as well as high treason.

The investigation revealed that a man born in 2003 had extracted five explosive devices from a cache in Chelyabinsk, which he planned to hand over to servicemen of the Russian Defense Ministry. Additional criminal cases were initiated against the defendant on the grounds of crimes provided for in Part 1 of Article 205 of the Criminal Code and paragraph "b" of part 3 of Article 222.1 of the Criminal Code. The investigation is currently ongoing.

Sergei Moskalenko, a resident of Berdyansk (listed as a terrorist and extremist), was sentenced to 25 years in prison on August 5 in a case of high treason and preparation of a series of terrorist attacks. According to investigators, he stored explosives and explosive devices, made an improvised device, and also collected information about facilities and government representatives in Berdyansk.
