The Russian Foreign Ministry called on Japan to recall the role of the United States in the atomic bombings

In the future, the Japanese authorities will have to publicly acknowledge the role of the United States in the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. This opinion was expressed by Alexey Fadeev, Deputy Director of the Information and Press Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

"We are convinced that sooner or later the Japanese authorities will have to call a spade a spade and supplement the relevant sections of the memorial museum of the victims of the tragedy with visual evidence of the American authorship of the bombing," Fadeev said.

Commenting on the anniversary of the nuclear strikes on Japan, the deputy director of the Foreign Ministry department noted that Japanese and Western politicians, including Hiroshima Mayor Kazumi Matsui, avoid mentioning the United States as the only country that has used atomic weapons against civilians.

Fadeev also said that these topics are unjustifiably being linked to criticism of Russia in the context of the situation in Ukraine, including accusations of alleged intentions and threats to use nuclear weapons.

The mayor of Hiroshima, Kazumi Matsui, on August 6, during a memorial ceremony on the occasion of the 81st anniversary of the atomic bombing of the city, criticized Russia's actions in Ukraine, but never mentioned the United States as the country that dropped the atomic bomb on Hiroshima. Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, during the commemorative ceremony, also did not mention the state that carried out the bombing.

On August 6, Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, called Japanese officials a disgrace for not mentioning the US role in the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. He added that Japan has become an official vassal of the United States, and at some point it risks becoming their ronin (a warrior who has lost the patronage of his overlord).
