Berdyansk resident sentenced to 25 years for preparing terrorist attacks

Sergei Moskalenko, a resident of Berdyansk (listed as a terrorist and extremist), was sentenced to 25 years in prison in a case of high treason and preparation of a series of terrorist attacks. This was reported on August 5 in the press service of the Southern District Military Court.

"In accordance with the verdict of the court, the defendant was found guilty and sentenced to imprisonment for a term of 25 years in a high-security penal colony with serving the first five years in prison, with a fine of 800 thousand rubles," the court's VKontakte page says.

In 2023, Moskalenko agreed to cooperate with an employee of the Main Directorate of Intelligence (GUR) of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. According to investigators, he stored explosives and explosive devices, made an improvised explosive device (IED), and also collected information about facilities and government representatives in Berdyansk.

In addition, as the court found, in the summer of 2024, the defendant was instructed to detonate a member of the United Russia party, after which he studied his movement routes and selected a place to lay an IED. He did not manage to realize his plans, because he was detained.

On August 4, a resident of Feodosia was sentenced to 16 years in prison in a high treason case. The court found that in September 2024, the man collected information about the movement of a reconnaissance and attack helicopter that provided cover for fuel and energy complex facilities in Crimea, and also photographed military equipment.
