Poland, together with NATO, activated air and ground defense systems after the appearance of an unidentified aerial object near the border with Ukraine. This was announced by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte on July 31.
According to him, the day before he discussed the incident with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk. The reason for the conversation was the discovery of an unknown object that violated the country's airspace.
"Poland and NATO have activated their air and ground defense systems," Rutte wrote on the social network X (ex. Twitter).
The Secretary General of the alliance also stressed that NATO continues to support Poland and intends to strengthen its readiness to repel various threats, including possible missile attacks.
Cesari Tomchik, Deputy Minister of National Defense of the Republic, believes that the alleged Russian X-101 cruise missile violated Polish airspace on the night of July 30. Subsequently, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said that the missile that fell on the territory was similar to the Russian one, but the authorities were not sure about this. According to him, the rocket landed in an uninhabited area, so there was no immediate danger.
